Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian appointed Rezaei as the new secretary of the SNSC in a decree on Sunday.
Rezaei replaced Mohammad Bagher Zolghadr, who had been appointed a political advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Mojtaba Khamenei earlier on Sunday.
Mehdi Tabatabaei, a spokesperson for the Iranian president’s office, announced the appointment, saying that Zolghadr had stepped down from the position to assume a new responsibility.
Zolghadr had served as the secretary of SNSC since March 2026.
